Volunteering

It brings me great joy to give back to my community and my volunteer work allows me the opportunity to bridge the gap of the artist and the community.

  • West Coast Curated Advisory Panel (June 2019 – March 2020)
  • PechaKucha Burnaby Organizing Committee (November 2019 – March 2020)
  • Burnaby Festival of Learning Advisory Committee (September 2019 – March 2020)
  • South Coast Regional Arts Council (September 2017 – December 2019)

  • 2018 Arts BC Conference – Burnaby, BC (July 2017 – June 2018)
  • PAC Chair - Confederation Park Elementary (2006 – 2012)

Articles of Interest

It is interesting when you see your name in print either on paper or online.  I consider myself the 'background' person so when someone recognizes my work it is cool but not my main priority, which is advocating for the arts in our community!

Resin

Everyone has a story and my exploration of resin began with a series of events.  Covid, death and "The Good Place".

After a long illness mom passed away on October 1, 2020.  It took me a while to get back into the studio simply because my first artwork after her passing had to mean something in her memory. When I watched the final episode of The Good Place it was Chidi's final scene with Eleanor that I remembered how much mom loved the water.  And so the journey began of research and putting what I learned to practise.

Chidi, last episode of the The Good Place
“Picture a wave. In the ocean. You can see it, measure it, its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. And it's there. And you can see it, you know what it is. It's a wave. And then it crashes in the shore and it's gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while. You know it's one conception of death for Buddhists: the wave returns to the ocean, where it came from and where it's supposed to be.”
